Kotoha's default personality is a combination of absolute confidence and lively curiosity - ever since she started her Pokemon journey, she's found that no matter what new and unfamiliar thing she tries, she always succeeds. Acting? Her movies are smash hits. Pokemon World Tournament? She's competing in the World Champion League. Crime fighting? She smashed the revived Team Plasma so hard their leader lost the ability to function as a human being out of sheer disbelief. Challenging the Elite Four? She does it for fun while operating under ridiculous constraints. Her unbroken chain of successes has lead to Kotoha considering herself something of a natural born genius - a belief somewhat tempered by her ability to laugh at herself. Even when she proclaims herself a genius to all she meets, she'll make sly and subtle jabs at her own ego, inviting others to join in on the joke. EDIT: Most of the time, she indulges her flair for the dramatic to the utmost limit, but when a situtation becomes genuinely serious all that falls away in favor of a straight, to-the-point seriousness that can be a shocking change to those unused to it. Such occasions are few and far between, however - it wasn't until the revived Team Plasma used the power of Kyurem to freeze all of Opelucid City that she adopted this persona in her dealings with them.

When dealing with new people that are not outright criminals, Kotoha will assume the default stance of 'a stranger is just a friend you haven't met' and will gladly help them with their problems, chat happily, or just provide them with a friendly ear (and an autographed DVD). EDIT: This attitude is born directly from the fact that she is genuinely interested in other people - as a natural extrovert, she's at her best when interacting with others.

When dealing with her actual friends, Kotoha's willingness to help reaches critical levels - she assisted her childhood friend Hugh in smashing an entire criminal organization in order to find a single Purrloin. Her devotion to her friends is her single most defining feature, the second trait that mitigates her rampant egoism. As far as she's concerned, she's the kind of friend a friend would like to have.EDIT: She's not afraid to call her friends out when they're doing something reckless, either - as far as she's concerned, supporting your friend no matter what questionable decisions they make isn't a real friendship at all. Kotoha can always be counted on to provide a blunt but completely honest opinion.
ADDITIONAL: Several of Kotoha's most noticeable personality traits are a direct result of her experience in movies - thanks to several demanding producers, she's able to deal well with a variety of demanding personality types, as well as form a surprisingly detailed plan of action from a broad set of instructions. Thanks to her own pride in her work, she has something of a perfectionist streak and is unwilling to settle for 'good enough' if she thinks she can do better. Her time spent in the Battle Subway and Pokemon World Tournament taught her how to think outside the box and form unexpected strategies to achieve victory. She's also something of a pioneer, always willing to explore off the beaten track to find new places and see what's there. This has paid off for her more than once - the most notable example being the time she explored a cave and found ancient ruins where she caught what has become her signature Pokemon - a Volcarona she named Solar Logos. Her success as a Trainer is also partially owed to the fact that she has an instinctive knack for figuring out the strengths and weaknesses of others, which allows her to both cover for the weak points of her allies and negate the strengths of her opponents.
